Bridge Fishin'
By John R. Greenwood
Bridge fishin' with dad
kids with friends
the scene across an outlet
paints a smile upon me
as I spy from an opposing bank
nibbles of anticipation mount
trucks roar by above
unaware of the
summer memory born below
these are the days we cherish
years after the fish
no longer bite
neglected tackle lay rusted
A portrait of summertime pleasure. Great photo and poem -- barbara
ReplyDeleteIt made me want to go grab a fishing pole that's for sure.
DeleteThose memories will live for a long, long time! Nice poem & photos.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you again, John.
I always thought fishing was so much more than that "catch" so many great memories at the end of the line.
ReplyDeleteA sweet poem for summer :)
Sounds like a wonderful memory for summer.. you have made it last...
ReplyDeleteMy father started the fishing memory thing when I was a kid. They sure linger. :)
DeleteThose garage shadows tend to bring some light to precious memories.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see you posting in the Pantry, kiddo! Yippee! That dad doesnt realize the precious memories he is making - years from now he will look back, as we all do, with such nostalgia. I took my son fishing in his boyhood - a gift that stuck with him all his life. His best days are still spent fishing.
ReplyDeleteLovely memories ...guaranteed to bring a smile.
ReplyDeletea very pleasant read...love how memories are being treasured to be cherished in solitude....
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful capture - so few parents take their children out to fields or rivers these days.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think how different life is above and below the bridge...how we see it with young eyes and with older ones..a very thoughtful poem..really fished inside the soul
