Fountain of Youth
By John R. Greenwood
Beneath the waters magic surface age has no meaning
Bobbing heads with equal smiles and water filled ears play with childlike hearts
As legs and feet swirl and churn in their refreshing dance below
Decades soften and float away
Grandmother and grandchild drift together playfully
A snapshot of time held so dear
This is a photo of my sister and her grandson

John, This is the first time I have seen this (which, I realize is my own fault for not following your Blog closer). First off, I LOVE the title. It really fits. I have a tear or two running down my cheek right now, because when I saw this picture,it immediately took me back to that day last summer. All the feelings, and actions took place, EXACTLY, as you described...When I'm with my grandkids, I am able to be "the real me", and I feel the decades momentarily melt away. The child in me "comes out to play"! I SO look forward to times such a this one in the photo. Days like these are a gift, and the most precious of pleasures to my heart and soul! I consider these times a gift from God. My husband's Mom used to say to me, "Jo, we made a memory today" (whenever all the family would gather). To her, moments with family were equally as precious. I wouldn't ever trade them for anything! Thanks, John, for the poem, and for posting it on your blog. It was a surprise, and a gift, as you are a gift to me...I Love You...Your Sister
